METROPOLIS, IL – Small town spirit is evident here as the great citizens of Metropolis make plans to take part in a bone marrow drive in Monday, April 12, from 2-6 pm. The Metropolis Planet has organized this event in honor of the Planet’s Editor Emeritus, Clyde Wills, who has been diagnosed with luekemia–a diagnosis that came as such a shock this February after 64 years of almost perfect health.
Clyde has five brothers who are being tested for matching bone marrow but the newspaper he ran for so long and the town he loves is rallying to try to ensure a back up plan.
The Bone Marrow Drive is being held in conjunction with Red Cross Blood Service’s Community Blood Drive. It will be held at First Baptist Church’s Family Life Center in Metropolis at 615 Girard Street on April 12, 2 to 6 pm.
