What started as a typical evening at Bible study for regional pharmacy director Tim Halfin ended with a life-saving miracle. That Friday, the devout Christian learned that 3-year-old Christopher Ramirez was reported missing in the woods after following a dog two days prior.
Halfin credits God for his extraordinary discovery of the missing child. The Texas native recounted his supernatural experience hearing God’s voice.
“During our prayer for this little boy,” Halfin recalled, “the Holy Spirit just popped in me, ‘Tomorrow morning, you’ll go look for him,’ and I did. There’s been a few times in my life that the Holy Spirit has really spoken to me, and I’ve obeyed, and, of course, the outcome is always great.”
3-year-old Ramirez was officially declared missing at around 1:30 p.m. on that Wednesday. The town’s law enforcement officers, residents, and the child’s mother had already searched tirelessly for the toddler with no success.
Halfin took part in the search party right around noon on Saturday. As he searched through the woods, Halfin remembered that he heard distinct sounds, but he wasn’t certain if it was the missing boy. Despite his uncertainty, he called the police officers near the search site to further investigate the source of the noises. Shortly after that, Christopher was located.
“When I saw him, it was immediately, ‘Praise God! This is answered prayer!’” Halfin exclaimed, sharing that the expression on the toddler’s face when he picked him up was, “I’ve been waiting for you. Where have you been?”
“I think God had been protecting this little boy all along,” the pharmacist shared. “I think Jesus had been talking to him for three nights and now going on four days.”
Halfin explained that since he is a Christian, he always believed that God worked miracles through people from reading the Bible. Now he has an extraordinary personal testimony of one of those miracles. The hometown hero expressed that he thinks God enacted three miracles for Christopher in an interview.
“No. 1, he was protected against all these elements, animals in the woods, No. 2, that he would survive for as long as he did without water, and third that he would be found really miles away from where they were even looking for him,” Halfin listed. “My prayer is for those who don’t see this as a miracle, that they would come to know Jesus and then they would know that it only had to be a miracle.”
Halfin also reported that the toddler’s mother, Araceli Nunez, is a “strong woman of faith.”
“She knew from the beginning that God was gonna bring her son back to her,” he shared. “In between that point, there was a lot of prayers lifted up…and then, at the end, the Lord led me to him and just answered everybody’s prayer right there.”
Halfin concluded that the centrality of the situation is God. Although his involvement in the search is very inspiring, the Texas Christian wants the focus to be on the Lord’s mercy and greatness, not on him. Halfin declared that the happy ending to the scary situation is “what the Lord has done here.”
