Actor Kevin Sorbo sat down with CBN’s “Faith and Culture” to discuss his faith. The star of shows like “Hercules,” “Andromeda,” and movies like “God’s not Dead,” shared how he attended one of Billy Graham’s crusades at the St. Paul Fairgrounds when he was 13. The actor recalled how he came to the front after Graham called people forward, something he was not in the habit of doing. After he sat back in his seat, Graham came and talked to him. “All of a sudden, a hand went on my head, and I turned around, and it was the Rev. Graham. And … we had a little chat,” he said. Graham prayed for Sorbo as well. Sorbo shared the story later in Graham’s book, “Chicken Soup for the Soul: Billy Graham & Me: 101 Inspiring Personal Stories from Presidents, Pastors, Performers, and Other People Who Know Him Well.” He helped Graham promote the book, with Sorbo saying, “It’s just such an honor to be a part of that.”

Sorbo grew up in the Lutheran church and recalled his youth group days fondly. “We had a thing called The Room on Wednesday nights, so, after basketball practice, football, whatever, … you go to The Room. It was this double classroom. They had bean bags and couches and stuff when we’d hang out, and we would talk the Bible with him. That was kind of huge for me,” he said. He currently attends a nondenominational church and states that his faith has caused him to be blacklisted in Hollywood. “When I tell people I’m a Christian and a conservative, it’s like being a double leper in Hollywood,” he told Kirk Cameron on TBN’s “Takeaways with Kirk Cameron” last year. Speaking to America’s 1st Freedom Editor-in-Chief, Frank Miniter, Sorbo stated that his political and religious views had essentially gotten him “canceled” from mainstream Hollywood. “Cancel culture started back in 2012 for me,” he said. “It was during a time when I was becoming more vocal. I saw the insanity of the ‘politically correct’ crowd and saw that there was nothing correct about it. My manager and agent bid me a fond farewell, both saying they couldn’t represent me any longer. For an industry that screams and cries for tolerance and freedom of speech, it’s a one-way street with them.”

Despite losing his manager and agent, Sorbo has kept busy with his own production company, Sorbo Studios, which he runs with his wife, Sam Sorbo. They focus mainly on independent films, with Sorbo’s latest film, “Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist,” having just finished its limited release run in theaters. In speaking with Kirk Cameron on how his career has changed, Sorbo said, “God opened another door for me. And the road I’m on now, I love it.”
