Amid his stellar career, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown remains humble and always gives the glory to God. Before the Super Bowl in February, Brown told Sports Spectrum how he deals with adversity. Brown said, “I had plans, and God had other plans. I try not to lean on my own understanding. I read the Bible a lot because that’s how I fight my problems. I’m not trying to stand up here and be a perfect guy because I’m not; nobody is. But I just lean heavily on my faith and try to let Him direct my paths.”
Brown continued, “I play for God. I don’t play for the expectations of men. I play this game because God has given me the ability to play this game, and doing my best is giving my due diligence back to Him.” Due to this mindset, the wide receiver brings his best to every game. Sports Spectrum reported that in a recent overtime win against the Washington Commanders, Brown caught nine passes for 175 yards more than any other player in Week 4.
Two of his receptions were critical second-half touchdowns that gave the Eagles the lead. He’s “the first Eagles player to have 175+ receiving yards and 2 touchdowns in a game since Jeremy Maclin in 2014. He’s the first to do it at home since Kevin Curtis in 2007,” NBC Sports Philadelphia wrote. However, Brown remains humble despite his success.

He posted on Instagram, quoting Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” He told NBC Sports after his performance, “We’re still putting it together. Nobody wants to be playing their best football right now. But we’re striving each and every day to fix the little things and head in the right direction. Like I said, we want to play well. Don’t get me wrong. We want to play really well, but we don’t want to play our best football right now in October.”
Brown continued, “These are moments that we’re learning from; these are experiences that we’re learning from. This was a game in overtime that if it happens again, nobody will blink because we’re put in these tough situations.” Brown helped the Philadelphia Eagles start this season undefeated, and the football player credits God for his success. He’s been playing for the Eagles for less than a year after getting traded by the Tennessee Titans.
The Eagles were one of two undefeated teams in the NFL, along with the San Francisco 49ers, before their loss to the New York Jets and the 49ers’ loss to the Clevland Browns. Now, there are no undefeated teams in the NFL.
