A Tennessee mother of two is praising God after she and her family survived the deadly Tennessee tornadoes that tore through middle Tennessee earlier this month. The 22-year-old mother of two, Sydney Moore, was trapped with her two children, Princeton, 1, and Lord, 4 months, and the father of her children, Aramis Youngblood, in their mobile home in Clarksville, Tennessee. “My boyfriend said, ‘It sounds like an airplane,” Moore recalled to a local news station. “Something in me just told me to run and jump on top of my son. The moment I jumped on him, the walls collapsed,” she told WSMV News. She covered 1-year-old Princeton with her body and became trapped under a wall. 4-month-old Lord was asleep in the bassinet when the tip of the tornado began to suck him up. 

Youngblood sprang into action, attempting to pull his son out of the bassinet. “He tried to grab him, but he couldn’t, and the tip of the tornado sucked them both up,” said Moore. “He was just holding on to the bassinet the whole time, and they went into circles.” The entire trailer collapsed on top of Moore and Princeton. Somehow, she was able to dig herself out of the debris along with Princeton and found Youngblood blown outside of the remnants of their home. He sustained a broken collarbone. There was no sign of the Lord. “We were screaming for each other. I just remember asking, ‘Where’s my baby!’ And my child’s father said he didn’t know,” said Moore.

To the amazement of everyone, after ten minutes of searching, the couple found baby Lord alive in a tree that had fallen over. “I thought he was dead,” said Moore. “I was pretty sure he was dead, and we weren’t going to find him. But he’s here, and that’s by the grace of God.” Moore had to walk a mile before finding an ambulance for Youngblood and Lord. In a GoFundMe set up for the family by Moore’s sister, Caitlyn, she stated that Lord received minor injuries. “Lord had to have his ear glued from a gash on his ear and had a minor concussion. We are told that he looked like he was placed on the tree gently. Like an angel guided him safely to that spot,” she wrote. The couple’s home was completely destroyed, and they lost all their belongings, including necessities such as baby formula and diapers. Caitlyn shared that the couple hoped to use the money to purchase a home as “they do not feel comfortable living in a trailer again.” To date, the GoFundMe has raised over $100,000.
