When it was “strongly suggested” that Tiny Paopao wear a tutu while accompanying his three-year-old daughter, Willow, at her very first dance recital, he was hesitant. “At first I didn’t want to, I’m already a big guy and didn’t want to bring more attention to myself,” Tony Paopao told Fox News. “I also didn’t want my daughter to be confused as to why I was wearing one.” But with the encouragement of his daughter’s dance teacher and his wife, he decided to go along with it.
It is a requirement for a parent to accompany their child in the recital for Willow’s age group, and Tony is the one who usually takes her to dance each Saturday. “They go to her ballet class, then [the] gym and then out for ice cream,” said Tony’s wife and Willow’s mom, Tiana Paopao said. “It’s their thing. He’s always very hands-on,” she added. Since Tony is the one to go with Willow to dance class, he was able to learn the choreography and ultimately performed with Willow on stage. Tiana noted that Tony didn’t put the tutu on right away. “He’s huge – 6’5″ and 385 pounds,” she said. But when it was time for them to hit the stage, Tony and Willow were ready. “He even led the parade after the curtain call,” Tiana Paopao said. When asked what his favorite moment on-stage was, Tony said “Every time I picked her [Willow] up I heard her giggling, and [saw her] smiling. She’s so much fun.”

Tiana posted the video to Instagram Reels where she captioned the video “You’re a 6’5 350 lb samoan… but you’re also a girl dad lol.” The video has gone viral with over 600,000 views.
