Todd Burkemper, who is six years older than his brother Alex, has always shared a close bond with him. When Alex completed his college education in 2017, Todd offered him a place to stay.
Todd, who had constructed a house in Wentzville, Missouri, two years after his own college graduation, worked hard as an app designer and senior software developer to turn his dream into reality. He wanted to offer Alex the opportunity to live with him without the burden of rent right after college.
However, after six months, Todd asked Alex to start contributing rent. Unknown to Alex, Todd was secretly saving all of Alex’s rent payments in a savings account and even added some of his own money to help it grow.
Years later, when Alex’s offer on a house was accepted, Todd revealed his secret to Alex. Their mother, Barbara Burkemper, captured the touching moment on camera when Todd disclosed what he had done.
“Although Alex was puzzled when he saw me with my camera out, he was even more confused, then completely shocked, when Todd held up a screenshot of the savings account balance on his phone,” said Barbara. “Then, he told Alex the money was his!”
Not a single eye stayed dry as Alex learned of Todd’s kind gesture. The brothers’ embrace was a testament to their deep love and care for one another.
“The generosity shown by Todd is just one of many amazing facets of his character. We are so very humbled by the awesome human being he has grown into,” Barbara said.
This story truly highlights the beauty of kindness and the strong bond of brotherly love!
