Gail Brant of Anderson, Indiana proved that it’s never too late to go back to school.

At 87-years-old, Brant recently graduated from Anderson University with a bachelor’s degree in English literature. When Brant graduated from high school, she didn’t get a chance to attend college, and even though she took night classes for a while, the demands of motherhood and a full-time career became more time consuming.  After her husband passed away a few years ago, Brant wanted to take writing classes, but all the writing classes required English classes as prerequisites.  Brant then decided to take the English and writing courses and get her college degree.

Once she was enrolled in college, Brant was treated just like the other students young enough to be her grandchildren.  She learned how to use a computer to research information, send emails, and type papers in Word–all for the first time in her life.

After taking her final exams, Brant graduated with honors–after receiving a 4.0 GPA!

As Brant told Eyewitness News Indiana, “You can do anything you want to do, if you just put your mind to it.”
