Kevin Costner recently celebrated his 68th birthday, and offered his fans some advice on getting older. On his birthday, he posted a photo of himself sitting on a porch smiling while wearing a cowboy hat with the caption, “Don’t believe what they say about getting older. Each passing year is a gift, and it gets better and better with time. Thank you for the birthday wishes.” The “Yellowstone” star had some castmates wish him a happy birthday on Instagram, including Brecken Merrill, who plays Tate Dutton, Costner’s grandson in the television series. Merrill wrote, “Happy birthday to the coolest tv grandfather and legendary coworker a kid could ever have! I hope there’s cake on your plate tonight.”

His birthday celebrations come soon after Costner won a Golden Globe Award for “Best Actor” for his role in “Yellowstone.” Costner was unable to attend the award show due to severe flooding going on in Los Angeles County. He took to Twitter, posting a video just before the awards show detailing his experience with the flooding. “Yesterday we had to pull the kids out of school in Santa Barbara,” Costner said in the video. “This is the second time in five years that the freeway has flooded out, we found ourselves on the wrong side of the town and we couldn’t get back last night.” Despite not being in attendance, Costner still won the “Best Actor” award.

Costner’s hit show “Yellowstone” is about a fictional family who owns Montana’s largest ranch with many twists and turns of conflict dealing with an expanding town, Indian reservations and America’s first national park. Costner plays John Dutton, the head of the family.
