Kendrick Farris didn’t score quite high enough to earn a spot on the medal podium, but that didn’t stop the Shreveport, La., weightlifter from enjoying his second career top 10 finish at the Olympics. In Bejing, Farris placed seventh. In London, he took 10th and narrowly missed out on breaking his own American record.

Earlier this summer, Inspiring Athletes caught up with Farris who said a spiritual renewal fueled his journey to London:

“From about the age of 16 to 22 is when I struggled the most, even after making an Olympic Team,” Farris said. “In 2008 I was living the lifestyle when it was convenient for me but by the end of the year I had rededicated my life to Christ and I haven’t looked back.”
