This week, President Obama will visit a U.S. mosque for the first time. One wonders why he didn’t do this in the past, say, October 2012, ahead of his last election. Oh well, he’s probably not coldly calculating, right?

Increasingly, people are realizing that Obama’s foreign policy models are conducive to making America more vulnerable. Even mainstream pundits are wondering about the President’s motives.

The question isn’t so much who Obama is, but rather, why does he do what he does? For example, why is he deferential to Islam, but decidedly less interested in protecting Christians or Jews?

I believe it is crystal clear that, beginning with Obama’s Cairo speech in June, 2009, his deference to Islam has emboldened jihadists who use the Koran as justification for killing Jews and Christians.

A social media posting gets to the heart of how Israelis view the international diplomatic community’s (led by Obama) handling of security issues:

“What I find most disturbing is actually not so much the stabbings in the streets for being Jews living in our own land. What is most chilling is the sense from so many in the world that we are only getting what we deserve.”

Obama has talked out of both sides of his mouth all during his presidency, mouthing the perfunctory statements about violence in the Middle East, while at the same time emboldening our enemies.

Routinely, for seven years, Obama and his advisors have chosen to be openly confrontational with Israel, while seeking accommodation with jihadists, including Iran.

Jihadists are savvy, and both use and monitor social media to keep their finger on the pulse of Western leaders’ attitudes regarding the war on terror. It was wholly unhelpful to see France’s Hollande greeting Iran’s Rouhani, the Holocaust denier. Such useful idiot deference substantially emboldens those who wish us all harm.

Obama, though, remains the standard for how a leader should not deal with Islamists who wish to establish a global caliphate. Even seemingly routine and benign events strengthen their hand. According to the Washington Post:

“On Wednesday the president will visit the Islamic Society of Baltimore, a sprawling community center in the city’s western suburbs, that serves thousands of people with a place of worship, a housing complex and schools, according to its website. It is one of the Mid-Atlantic region’s largest Muslim centers and describes itself as aspiring ‘to be the anchor of a growing Muslim community with diverse backgrounds, democratically governed, relating to one another with inclusiveness and tolerance, and interacting with neighbors in an Islamic exemplary manner.’”

Why doesn’t the President attend or support groups that, for example, stand with the persecuted Christians of the Middle East, who are being slaughtered by proxies of Iran?

A presidential visit to a mosque means that the president is standing-down when it comes to global Islamist terror. It’s that simple.

A snippet from the President’s speech at the Israeli embassy recently, marking Holocaust Remembrance Day, reveals a disconnect between what the President says and what he does:

“And so we’re called to live in a way that shows that we’ve actually learned from our past. And that means rejecting indifference. It means cultivating a habit of empathy, and recognizing ourselves in one another; to make common cause with the outsider, the minority, whether that minority is Christian or Jew, whether it is Hindu or Muslim, or a nonbeliever; whether that minority is native born or immigrant; whether they’re Israeli or Palestinian. It means taking a stand against bigotry in all its forms, and rejecting our darkest impulses and guarding against tribalism as the only value in our communities and in our politics.”

In fact, the President’s weak hand against jihadists does the opposite of taking a stand against “bigotry in all its forms.” Obama’s deference toward Islam is the opposite of “rejecting our darkest impulses and guarding against tribalism.” While he behaves boorishly with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he ignores the most extreme form of tribalism, that of the mullahs who wish to conquer the world for Islam. Tehran’s drive to obtain nuclear weapons proves that, as they have openly called for the destruction of Israel.

What kind of international leader tolerates that?

Who would seek to make nice with such a grotesque entity, while defaming her democratic foe?

The President claims to be a Christian, yet he stands-down when Islam defames the faith of billions. Islam’s extreme and unacceptable trampling of human rights, and its intolerance for other religions (particularly Christianity and Judaism)…all ignored by the Obama Administration.

Perhaps someday, in some post-presidency venue, he will explain once and for all what he really believes about all this.
