The kingdom of God is about mystery.  It is about a God who has purposely hid that which is most vital to life. There is a reason Jesus calls us to "seek" the kingdom.  It isn’t that it is lost, rather it has been hidden by God himself.

"At that time Jesus said, ‘I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children."  Mt. 11.25

The kingdom is for those who like a child will run head long into the field looking for buried treasure because their Father in heaven said that it is there and worth finding. (Mt. 13.44ff)  I think that God has done this to reveal our hearts.  The kind of person who would seek the kingdom is the kind of person that feels a that there is a deficit in their life that needs to be fortified.

If we choose to seek this pearl of great price, we will find all that our soul desires but we will also have to learn to live with mystery and tension.
