It’s not hard for a local church to do something!

Hope for Orphans, a ministry of Family Life, has taken on the task of resourcing the bride of Christ when it comes to orphan care.  I have had the privilege participating in some of their endeavors.

OrphansministryThey have a very practical book and DVD called, "Launching an Orphans Ministry in Your Church", that is more than worth the ten dollars.  They do a good job of walking you through the basic questions and the DVD shares two stories of how churches are offering themselves to the orphans of the world.

The church I serve, Colorado Community Church, launched Project 127 less than three years ago and we have met with encouraging success.

  • 47 children placed
  • 173 families in process
  • 75 churches represented

We have almost 800 children in Colorado’s foster care system.  But there are also 1500 churches in the Denver metro area.  Do the math!  I am convinced that we will see the day that there are no children waiting for homes, only families waiting for children by 2014.
