This weekend, at CCC Englewood and Aurora, we began a series on Reformation.  We are an interdenominational church, which means that we desire to respect, celebrate and learn from the various Christian traditions.

In this series we are looking at the Power of "Sola"-darity.

Gift Sola Gratia (by grace alone)

Sola Fide (by faith alone)

Sola Scriptura (by scripture alone)

Solus Christus (in Christ alone)

Soli Deo Gloria (Glory to God alone)

We all find ourselves in need of re-formation.  Let’s begin with the first two:  by grace alone, through faith alone.  The gift OF God is received by faith.  What keeps us from fully taking hold of it?

Saint Augustine once said…

God is always trying to give good things to us, but our hands are too ful to receive.

Gerald May adds…

If our hands are full, they are full of the things to which we are addicted.  And not only our hands, but also our hearts, minds, and attention are clogged with addiction.  Our addictions fill up the spaces within us, spaces where grace might flow.

Lord have mercy…
