It's Sunday evening and I'm sitting in my favorite coffee shop hard at work on my next book.  A group of twenty or so people have just arrived and started a meeting right next to me.  It sounds like they are the local atheist society and they have gathered to discuss all of the reasons that they hate religion, mostly Christianity.

And here I sit writing about what Christianity would look like if we had a jazz-shaped view of the cross–that is, the cross as a way of life.  I wonder if that would make any difference to my new neighbors…
