“I beg you, look for the words ‘social justice’ or ‘economic justice’ on your church Web site. If you find it, run as fast as you can. Social justice and economic justice, they are code words. Now, am I advising people to leave their church? Yes!”
What?!
The gospel is that the kingdom of God has arrived and that is good news for all of life. I think that we would do better listen to the likes of Ron Sider when he says
“I long for the day when every village, town, and city has congregations so in love with Jesus Christ that they lead scores of people to accept him as personal Savior and Lord every year–and so sensitive to the cry of the poor and oppressed that they work vigorously for justice, peace, and freedom.” (One-Sided Christianity: Uniting the Church to Heal a Lost and Broken World, p16)
