The Pentecost community is one that loves God and loves others — and it loves the self properly and it loves the real people of God — and this love of God that loves the self and others reaches out to the needy. Jesus’ brother, younger and one who watched Jesus do the Messianic vocation, made this quite clear in James 1 when he said that a true believer, or one properly religious, looked after widows and orphans.
What was that like? In 40 Days Living the Jesus Creed I mention these points:
1. We are to listen with the ears of Jesus.
2. We are to look with the eyes of Jesus.
3. We are to link with the hands of Jesus.
When we do, we look like a community indwellt by God’s Pentecostal Spirit.
