I would like to announce publicly, in front of God and the world, that if asked I will not accept an invitation to be Vice President. We have considered our rhythm of life and decided that, were we to be invited and were we to accept, that rhythm would be altered so deeply that we could not have tranquility. So, to the two candidates who, for reasons we cannot fathom, might be considering us, we have to say: “Sorry, friend. Not this time.” Unlike John Edwards, I will not reconsider or change my mind. You can hold me to it. If I change my mind I’ll buy each of you a new Apple iPhone.
On the other hand, can you think of any good reasons why I should reconsider?
