If God is Olam, forever, and if God’s Word and Faithfulness are also Olam, what are we to do? Attach ourselves to the Olam God whose Word and Faithfulness are Olam. I get attachments in my e-mails quite often; they are along for the ride. If the e-mail comes, they come. Sometimes the e-mail comes without them because the sender forgets to attach. But, most often they are there. We, too, are to “attach” ourselves to the Olam God. That way we can participate in the Dance called Trinity.
Notice the psalmists expressions of attachment:
92Â Â If your law had not been my delight,
I would have perished in my affliction.
93 Â Â Â I will never forget your precepts,
for by them you have preserved my life.
94 Â Â Â Save me, for I am yours;
I have sought out your precepts.
95 Â Â Â The wicked are waiting to destroy me,
but I will ponder your statutes.
He delights in God’s Law; he will never forget God’s precepts; these precepts saved his life; he has sought out God’s precepts; even when he is chased down, he will ponder God’s statutes.
He’s connected to God through pondering God’s Olam Word, and he is attached because he knows God is Olam faithful. That, in fact, is why we attach ourselves to God. God alone is true to character; God alone abides in character; God alone abides in love and care.
