One of our blogfamily has died. This set of prayers is for Ben Pennington, and we grieve along with his dear wife, Lisa.
Depart, O Christian soul, out of this world;
In the Name of God the Father Almighty who created you;
In the Name of Jesus Christ who redeemed you;
In the Name of the Holy Spirit who sanctifies you.
May your rest be this day in peace, and your dwelling place in the Paradise of God.
A Commendatory Prayer
Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servant Ben Pennington. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your own redeeming. Receive him into the arms of your mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light. Amen.
May his soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
Here’s Ben’s obituary:
A funeral service for Benjamin R. Pennington will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, March 9, at Calvary Episcopal Church with Rev. Nicklas Mezacapa presiding. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in the spring.
Mr. Pennington, 46, died at Methodist Hospital on Friday Feb. 23, 2007 following a brief illness.
Born August 20, 1960 in Rochester, he graduated from John Marshall High School. He received his degree from MN Bible College (Crossroads) and attended the St. Cloud State overseas program at Alnwick, England. On June 19, 2003 he married his lady love, Lisa Charmoli at the Plummer House in Rochester.
He was manager of his family’s business King’s Run Car Wash before becoming the book and bible purchaser for Christian Book and Gift Shop.
Ben was the current President and long time member of Save the Depot, Inc. a non-profit historic preservation volunteer group. Leading the group, he was instrumental in preserving Rochester’s Chicago Great Western railway depot for its move back to its original location for renovation in 1997. He was involved with many programs and projects as a volunteer for the Olmsted County History Center. He was also host and member of the Zumbro Valley Workshop, a local train club.
As a member of Calvary Episcopal Church, he was newly elected to the Vestry and actively involved in various church activities (forum presenter, education committee) and was currently enrolled in the Education For Ministry course.
Benjamin loved books, music, history, traveling, trains and all things England!
Survivors include his wife Lisa, Rochester, mother Patricia, Rochester, brother Jonathan, Minneapolis, and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, David.
