If Os Guinness, in his attempt to call the nation to public civility, can call the Religious Right to task for its rhetoric, he can do the same to the Left. In The Case for Civility, chp 5, Guinness says we must “Say No to the Naked Public Square.”

(Say the Jesus Creed morning and evening during Lent.) Chp 4 of Os Guinness, The Case for Civility, could be called a “civil screed” against the Religious Right. It is not too harsh; it never falls for the uncivil, but the chp univocally calls the RR to the bar for a civil warning.
