CNN’s Daryn Kagan: Was she fair to George W. Bush?
By

I avoid political rants and even political comments, but this has to be said about what Daryn Kagan said immediately after George W. Bush was aired being briefed in Mississippi.
Grace Grinding
By
xscot mcknight
There is a kind of writing, preaching, and talking about grace that instead of offering grace and extolling the goodness of God, seems to use grace as the backhand of God that is used to grind humans into the ground as it talks about grace. I’m having a hard time being gracious about this.

Grant me, I beseech thee, O merciful God, Prudently to study, Rightly to understand And perfectly to fulfill that which is pleasing to thee, To the praise and glory of thy name. Amen. Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas
Jesus on Being Missional 6
By

Jesus on Being Missional 5

Jesus told his missional Apostles not to take money, not to carry a beggar’s bag, and not even to take extra clothing and shoes — and then adds they are not to take a staff (probably a protective device). There have been many interpretations of Jesus’ strong directions to the Apostles on what provisions on…
I Had a Colleague who said these things
By

A former colleague of mine, whose name shall go unmentioned here, was notorious for off-the-wall comments in class. (Suggested names will be permitted, and if enough get it right I’ll disclose the person’s name). One student of his decided to begin recording them. She gave them to me, and I’ll give you some of them…

My colleague, Brad Nassif, will be giving a paper on what he learned from evangelicalism as an Eastern Orthodox theologian at a conference in the Chicago area. Details:
