Wanna see God? Plant life into dirt after it’s been reborn into soil.

Wanna smell God?  Chase hope around a goat pen, and when you catch it, refuse to let go when it shits on your clothes.

Wanna doubt God? Get off the bus and go stand in front of an HIV-positive mother of five and pray to God out loud for her healing.

Wanna hear God?  Listen to the laughter of a mother hearing the heartbeats of her healthy twin babies.

Wanna question God? Walk inside a single mom of seven’s brand new home and listen to her gush and give thanks to God for a house that you’d be embarrassed to live in.

Wanna believe God?  Witness four young Haitian refugees laugh, jump up and down, and dance for joy three-and-a-half months after losing everything in an earthquake.

Wanna serve God? Do something like my friend Jill did ten years when she began sponsoring a three-year-old boy in the Dominican Republic. Yesterday, she met that little boy-now 13. His mom and dad wept as they talked about what Jill & World Vision meant to them. Jill’s investment has been priceless.

Consider doing something like Jill did.

Do it together with a group of friends or a Sunday school class or a small group.

Give up a luxury in order to do it. You might realize you didn’t need the luxury after all.

But do it.

Cuz all of us need to see God once in a while… some of us more than others…
