Church fights are interesting. I’ve seen a couple small ones happen inside the walls of a church. But nothing too bad. The worst ones usually occur when one church is playing a game of basketball against another church. I’ve seen awful Christlike behavior happen at those kinds of functions.
But I never remember the cops being called…
A dispute over leadership at a Henderson County church [North Carolina] has turned from angry words to fist fights.
About 30 police officers from five agencies were called to break up fights Sunday at Greater New Zion Baptist Church in Fletcher.Henderson County Sheriff’s Capt.
Jerry Rice said the brawl is under investigation, and no one appears to have been seriously hurt.Rice said there were about 75 people at the church when police arrived, but not all of them were scuffling.
Some church members said they were divided over the recent ouster of the Rev. LeVonia Ray as pastor of the church. The fighting apparently began over whether a vote should be held to reinstate Ray, members said.
No charges have been filed.
