Disclaimer.
This post is not about Mark Driscoll. I’m sorry. I know you’re disappointed. To be honest, I only used Mark’s name to get you to come here. Some of you never visit my blog unless Mark’s name is in the title.
I know what you’re thinking: WTM?
Love him or hate him or hate the fact that you love him, there’s no denying that the name “Mark Driscoll” drives traffic. Mark’s name drives traffic, throws it in a cage and kicks the Driscoll out of it.
Among Christians who read blogs, Mark Driscoll is the name of above all names.
John Piper’s name works okay.
Joel Osteen’s name works surprisingly well, especially among Calvinists. (Nobody dislikes Joel more than the Reformers.)
Rob Bell’s name works, too, depending on what context its used.
But “Mark Driscoll”… there’s just something about that name that makes people run their cursor over a link and click.
Even the name of Jesus can’t drive the traffic that Mark can.
But again, I used Mark’s name in vain, just to get you to click on the link and come here…
So you can enter for a chance to win a book!!
This.
Book.
I know, I know. Yes, this is another one of those Mark damn book giveaways.
But it’s a good book about the Gospel of Matthew, cleverly titled The Gospel of Matthew: God with Us
I have THREE copies to give away. It sounds like a good book. Here’s the description:
They say the Bible is true, but does it ring true? Does it resonate? In this journey through the Gospel of Matthew, Matt Woodley considers the audacious idea of a God with us–confronting us in the midst of all we’ve invested ourselves in and dedicated ourselves to, and encouraging us with the promise that the God who made us has a better life in mind for us. The Resonate series recovers the ancient wisdom of Scripture for a complex world. The stories and insights of each book of the Bible are brought into conversation with contemporary voices of hope and lament–the cultural messages we interact with on a daily basis. The Scriptures become a meeting ground where God is confronted with the pressing concerns of our day, and we are confronted in turn with a fresh experience of God’s truth.
Now, for those of you who have Mark in your hearts, I must confess that I’m unsure if Mark would approve of this book or approve of me using his name in order to give this book away. Why? Because Skye Jethani (who is AMAZING) wrote the afterward. And Leonard Sweet (who has a beard) wrote the foreword.
And THIS GUY’s involved somehow, too.
This book has a lot of names attached to it, not the least of which is the author: Matt Woodley.
So to enter to win this book, just leave a Marking comment.

Second disclaimer: The authors involved in writing this book as well as the book’s publisher are IN NO WAY responsible for the content of this post. They LOVE Mark. LOVE. HIM. This post was my idea. All me. My Marking idea.
