John Edwards slaps back at critics who say that his wealth shows he doesn’t really care about the poor:
“Would it have been better if I had done well and didn’t care?” Edwards asked.
He is exactly right. So he is rich. So he has spent a bundle on a hair cut or two or 38. Who cares? Critics attack his wealth and his spending because they don’t want to deal with the reality of the poverty he wants us to confront. But the reality is ugly. There is real poverty in America. There is huge income inequality. There is hunger. We all have to deal with it. At least John Edwards is talking about it. Good for him
