Last night on ABC’s Primetime, a polygamous community in Arizona was gently profiled. Though ABC went out of its way to try and leave the Mormon faith’s name out of the profile – undoubtedly because the Mormon church is officially against polygamy – this piece and all the others like it that will be coming out raise questions about the Mormon faith that Gov. Romney does not want to face. Past racism (some say current racism) and past polygamy help contribute to the recent poll out from USA Today showing that only 72% of Americans would consider voting for a qualified Mormon presidential nominee (versus 88% for a female nominee and 92% for a black nominee).
