This is post 109 in my series on the Law of Attraction in Action. You CAN use your power to attract all that you need. I do it every day! Read all the posts in my Law of Attraction in Action Series to see how.

On Friday I announced my 31 Days of Self-Love Challenge for Self-Love Month. Many people seem excited about it and understood why I’m doing it. But I’m surprised at how often people ask how I plan to make money from it. They look at me oddly when I explain that I don’t have a built-in plan to generate an income from this project. I’m doing it to give back for my blessings and to help others make strides to become as happy as I am.

Many people don’t understand the true joy of giving and following their passion.

I was one of them when I was a DoorMat. I did give a lot. But, it wasn’t spiritually driven. I gave to others to buy them. Many people think they’re so nice because they do everything they can for other people. When I ask what they do for themselves, they dodge the question. And it eventually comes out that they please others to buy acceptance and friendship and to avoid confrontations. That’s not giving back or following a passion. That’s just being a people pleaser!

People pleasing kinds of giving don’t attract happiness. Giving from your heart attracts blessings.

When you do what makes you feel good, you attract more good. Doing things to help others because you care will attract a plethora of support for other things you’re doing. I know how I felt before I loved myself and how I feel now that I do. It’s a difference of exceptional proportion. As a DoorMat, my main satisfaction was relief that I’d pleased someone and maybe they’d continue to like me. But relief didn’t make me happy. It just gave me a false sense of security for a short time.

Giving without an agenda is the best way to attract the blessings of giving!

The satisfaction of knowing that you’ve brought joy to someone else’s life feels so much better than the relief of knowing a person you did favors for still likes you, although you at least sort of know it’s what they get from you that they like, not you. And doing what you love can eventually attract making money from it. I got the idea for Self-Love Month after thinking about all the people I hear from or encounter who don’t love themselves and say they’re clueless about where to begin.

If I was doing this for money, I’d have let my agent sell my book, How Do I Love Me? Let Me Count the Ways, and then used Self-Love Month to promote it.

But I didn’t do this to make money. It was a spontaneous decision because I love myself so much and want to share simple tools so that others can develop self-love too. I care and feel extraordinarily blessed to be able to do this to say thanks for the blessing of learning to love myself. I believe that having self-love is key to succeeding in all areas of life, which is why this project is so important to me. I’ve been making some great contacts in my quest to launch it and know I’ll attract wonderful things because of it.

When you follow your heart instead of worrying about how to fatten your bank account, you can attract more ways to do both.

I always expect to get what I need. Whether I attract it with my Self-Love project or something else it doesn’t matter. I just know I’ll have what I need when I need it. Years ago I vowed to never do anything just for the money and continue to live that way. Doing good attracts more good. Blessings attract blessings. So maybe something will come of this project that will make me some money. But if it doesn’t happen, that’s fine too. Chasing money doesn’t attract it. Yes, you’ll earn for what you do. I prefer to attract money by my faith and by being a kind, giving person.

I’ve never been so excited about doing anything in my life as I am about doing a Self-Love initiative. Money is good but this feeling is priceless.

So I’ll continue to stymie folks who wonder how I can do this without an income plan. God will decide how that goes. I trust. My faith is strong. So I’m putting a ton of time into this, knowing that I’ll get wonderful things back. I look forward to seeing what they are. Doing things just to make a buck is fine if you need to generate an income. Doing things you’re passionate about, with an intention of helping others, will make you an all around richer person, like I am–rich in blessings, good people and wonderful opportunities on many levels. “It’s not about the money.”
