Happy New Year!  I hope that your entry into 2012 was a happy one. As usual, I enjoyed doing my spiritual work to clear my energy for a good start to the next year of my life so I began this year with a big smile. I know that I will continue to do what I can to live up to my potential this year. That’s my constant resolution every new year.

Today is day 1 of Self-Love Month and the beginning of my 31 Days of Self-Love Marathon of posts here on Lessons from a Recovering DoorMat. I’ll have a post on building self-love very day of the month. Have you pledged to take my 31 Days of Self-Love Challenge yet—to do something loving for yourself on every day of January? I hope that you’ll enjoy this consciousness after the 31st day and continue to be loving to you.

The more you do for you, the more you’ll feel good. The more you feel good, the more you’ll want to do and the stronger your self-love will be. January is a whole month to focus on being kinder to yourself! Every little loving thing you do is a brick in the foundation of self-love. I want you to fall in love with yourself!

After hating myself for many years, it’s such a joy to be able to view myself with strong love—stronger than I’ve ever had for any other person. Self-love is critical for happiness. It builds confidence and motivates you to live a healthier lifestyle. It’s a new year, a new beginning and you can begin to love yourself today.

Today is the first day of 2012 and the first day of the rest of your life. Loving yourself is YOUR choice. Do one kind thing that puts a smile on your face today. Then do something else loving for you tomorrow. It doesn’t have to be major. Cut yourself some slack. Stop and take a few deep breaths. Go for a walk. Kick back and watch a movie. Whatever makes you feel good says, “I love me!”

Below is a video called My Wish for You, made by my juicy, unconditional love expert friend, Lisa McCourt, author of many books including  Juicy Joy – 7 Simple Steps to Your Glorious, Gutsy Self. I hope this puts you into a very special mood for starting the New Year with Self-Love!
