Any pleasure that a person takes from this life that does not simultaneously include a conscious sense of gratitude for that pleasure being received is always an incomplete pleasure.  Incomplete pleasures and insatiable desires are the opposing yet complementary two wings of the thorn birds that, one moment lift the soul above the earth, and the next, drop it to dash it against the ground.
