If you happen to be dating a woman who eats, sleeps and breathes work, then you are probably having some issues. That’s if you are not a workaholic yourself. But of course, there will always be downsides as well as upsides. You just have to know how to adjust if you really like the person. Here are a few ways on how to date a workaholic girl.
Be patient and understanding
Dating a workaholic girl requires a lot of patience and understanding. If you are a workaholic yourself, then you know for a fact that it’s difficult to balance your private and professional life. But if you aren’t that type of person, then you need to make some adjustments. You have to understand that they have the “always on the go” mindset. Be more understand of her hectic work schedule and don’t blame her for being so busy all the time. We live in a world where one has to work more hours in order to survive in this fast-paced society. Try to understand.
Compensate and negotiate
As previously mentioned, you need to be more understanding of her busy schedule. However, don’t give her too much understanding. Make sure that it goes both ways. Let her know that you also want to spend time with her and allowing her to work all the time will just ruin your relationship. Make an agreement to spend time together at certain days of the week. Or you could even just spend a an hour or two with her everyday if meeting once a week would be too much. Visit her during her lunch break or pick her up after her shift. Communication is key. Agree to meet each other on a regular basis.
Listen to her rant about work once in a while
It happens a lot to couples where they end up arguing about how one talks too much about work. If you are dating a workaholic, then of course it’s expected that work will be a topic. It’s what she does 8 hours a day 5 days a week. Sometimes even more. Give her some slack and lend your ear. If she’s ranting about her boss, let her. Stress and fatigue builds up when people don’t talk about it and you’ll just end up getting the heat if you don’t let her talk about it. Be supportive but at the same time, let her know that you also want to talk about something else.
