During those hot times, you’re looking for creative summer date ideas – something unique and fun that you can do to make the heat pass quickly, and really enjoy it.
There is so much you can do with the summer, but here are some of our favorite summer date ideas. When it’s beautiful and warm outside, you both deserve to enjoy yourself!
Outdoor Festivals
‘Tis the season, you know, for different festivals to be popping up all over the place. You’ve been stuck in a mall all winter, so get out and do something that’s fun.
You can buy wacky presents for each other as well and look at all the weird and wonderful attractions, and the fresh air might just do you good. Go to local bulletin boards around your community, and see if you can find any flyers for good festivals.
Buy them food there as a different sort of treat, or afterwards, take him/her to a small local diner and get some food there. This is a casual, fun date – don’t feel forced to do something big, and fancy. It will just ruin the mood.
Traveler
Want to spend a day away? Leave in the morning, and drive. Just drive – don’t have a destination, or an idea of where you’re going. Let them choose the turns you take, and see if you can end up in a small town or some diamond in the rough area.
Take them to eat in a diner or restaurant you find here, then ask locals for directions back to your home town. Before you leave, take a walk and see the different things of small town living (Or big city, depending on where you end up!).
A Scuba Diving Trip
Feeling tired of your normal humdrum routine and want to know how to plan a Scuba diving trip? Here’s some good news for you: It’s fun and easy, and you can enjoy the planning process almost as much as the experience itself!
To plan a Scuba diving trip, you will need:
- SCUBA Certification – Either have one or get one. Otherwise, no diving for you!
- Equipment (semi-optional, see below)
- Money (amount varies, see below)
- Time (From a few days to a few weeks!)
Ready to get started? Here’s how to plan a SCUBA diving trip!
- Pick a timeframe and budget. Investigate around. Want to go to the Red Sea for two weeks ? Nile Cruise Luxor Aswan have a hot deals for you. Expect to pay a few thousand dollars for the trip. Want to go to the coast and dive for a few days? You can probably do it for the cost of a hotel plus money for air fills. It all depends on what you’re willing to pay. But keep in mind:
- Pack Accordingly. No matter where you go, you’re probably going to have to provide your own mask, snorkel, and swimsuit. Some places don’t rent wetsuits or fins, so those are good to have on hand as well. American shops often don’t rent weights, but almost all other locations around the world do (it’s a pain to fly with 20 pounds of lead weight!). Keep in mind that how much equipment you pack and how much you rent will impact the cost of your trip.
- Investigate the weather and the water conditions of your destination. Are you going to need a light wetsuit? Drysuit? Will you need regulators that work in cold water? Better to know earlier rather than later!
- Find a group: The most fun dive trips are often those where a small group goes together. 6-12 people often seems ideal, as you can almost always find someone to dive whenever you want to dive, and there are few enough people that everybody can get to know each other and get comfortable.
- Consider insurance. The Diver’s Alert Network and other agencies can save you thousands of dollars in medial and travel expenses in case something goes wrong. They’re worth a very close look.
- Have a blast! Enjoy your trip. Remember to be safe and eat well, to observe local laws and be aware of regional customs. Don’t drink alcohol and dive (dehydration is bad underwater!), but most of all, have fun!
Road Trip!
One of my favorite summer date ideas is, without a doubt, a road trip. Did you consider it? Grabbing your car, some clothes, and a little bit of cash, and heading out on the highway. All there is to do is listen to tunes, bond with each other, and just enjoy the weather.
You can go anywhere, but keep in mind driving distance. If you have a lot of time, try to drive to another coast – but if you don’t, just go to a beach, or fun landmark, for a weekend.
If you’re not comfortable in your car, make it extra special by renting one. You know you’re driving something that isn’t going to break down, and they’ll insure it in case anything accidental happens.
Remember to bring plenty of cash, and plan out your trip ahead of time… you don’t have to stay in a hotel every night if you’re strapped. Head to a camping ground one or two nights, and enjoy the outdoors.
The best road trip ideas require some advance planning to make the trip enjoyable. If the road trip is going to last for more than one day, you will need to find a place to stay while you are away. Make sure you know exactly where you are going beforehand so there are no surprises along the way. Leave yourself plenty of time to get to your destination so there is no stress during your trip.
- Casinos in Las Vegas, NV. Whether you are taking a one-day road trip or going to stay for a week, Vegas offers many different amusements. Hit the casinos during the day and then go clubbing at night. Another idea while you are in Vegas is to go golfing. Just be sure to get a late tee time if you plan on partying the night before.
- Baseball in New York City, NY. Go see the Yankees play in NYC. If you hate the Yanks, take a road trip to see them play your favorite team. After the game, hit the bars or Radio City. It’s a good idea to leave your car somewhere safe near where you are staying and then travel by cab so you avoid the hassle of the crowds.
- Beaches in Miami, FL. Few U.S. beaches are as fun as those in Miami. Miami is a long way down from the beginning of the Florida border, but the trip is worth it. Book a hotel close to the beach for convenience. After a day of sun and fun in the water, check out the Miami night life at some different bars and clubs.
- Amusement Park in Anaheim, CA. Take a road trip to Disneyland in Anaheim for a day or two of fun. Try to go during the off season to avoid too many people. If you are going to stay for more than a day, get a multi-day ticket to Disneyland. Dividing the activities into two days makes your road trip more enjoyable.
