Story time! I had
another amazing experience at the office today.
A 77 year old woman came to us just a few months ago with arthritis,
high blood pressure, high cholesterol, acid reflux and prediabetes- not to
mention her obesity. She was on a slew
of prescription medications but was prompted by her daughter to check us
out. By the way, if you were to ever
talk to this sparkly senior on the phone without looking at her, you would
think you were talking to a 40 year old.
Her positive energy is magnetic and limitless. But, how could someone so happy and positive
be at the mercy of all these diseases?
She, like many people who see us, did not believe that health was
possible for her. The obstacle in her
mind was her age; for others we see at the office, it is their weight, their
sadness, their convenience, their spouse, their finances, their hatred for
vegetables… I hear them all.
This woman started with some simple changes to a low
glycemic index, Mediterranean diet supplemented with high quality fish
oil. Her initial labs were taken so she
could witness her change in just 3 months time.
She incidentally had a fall and was unable to fully implement the
exercise portion of our Therapeutic Lifestyle Change program due to a bum
back. But she did not quit on the
nutrition! She kept up with it,
following our 90/10 rule- 90% of the time eating the foods that heal her so
that 10% of the time when birthdays and other special occasions come by, there
is room for a little ‘cheat.’ So, what’s
the ending of this little story, you may ask?
Drum roll…….
Her LDL cholesterol dropped 22 points, her total cholesterol
30 points, her cardio CRP (measure of inflammation in the heart) went from a whopping
high risk 6.8 down to a low risk 0.5, her blood sugar down to normal; she lost
over 10 lbs and dropping clothes sizes as we speak. This story happened in just 3 months, and the
unlikely heroes of our totally telling tale- Dashing Diet and Elegant Exercise!
Our ‘Little Engine That Could’ is one of many that inspire
our entire team and should make you seriously reconsider your life story. If a 77 year old woman can make it happen,

won your race as the Tenacious Tortoise (and put that High and Mighty Hare to
shame), please reply with your very own story complete with Happy Ending to this
