I’ve been offline with some holiday travel the last few days. I spent a couple of hours camping in the “cell phone park and wait” lot waiting for a delayed flight to arrive at the Salt Lake airport. Really, how did people survive without cell phones? Then, driving back home, I filled up the tank with regular unleaded at $1.29 per gallon in Evanston. If I’d had buckets along, I’d have filled them up, too. Just six months ago it was over $4 per gallon, and mentally people are still stuck on that $4 per gallon figure. I’m still stuck on $4 per gallon … are you? There’s a psychological side to the meltdown that will be as tough to address and as long-lasting as the financial system factors we keep hearing about in the press.
