He didn’t get the GOP nomination and he didn’t get the VP slot, but Mitt Romney was named Mormon of the Year over at Times & Seasons. The Salt Lake Tribune ran a story on it, too. An argument could be made for Stephenie Meyer (anyone can run for president and lose; it takes real talent to write a megaseries) or for other pop culture heros, but it’s hard to argue with Romney as a pick. After Romney’s 2008 presidential bid, the interface between Mormonism and national politics will never be the same.
