Selena Gomez has dumped teen heart-throb Justin Bieber because she believes he is hanging around with the wrong kind of people, according to two British tabloid newspapers.

 “Young sweethearts Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have reportedly broken up after the Disney star told Justin she didn’t approve of his new hip-hop music friends,” writes J. J. Anisiobi for the Daily Mail, “The Wizards Of Waverley Place star, who has been dating the Baby singer since the start of the year, has allegedly dumped the 17-year-old teen sensation because she is worried about the influence his new friends are having on him.”

“Teen lovers Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are on the rocks because of his bad boy hip-hop friends,” reports Pete Samson for the Sun. “The pair are taking time out after Selena, 19, ordered the clean-cut pop idol to ditch his new pals.”

In recent weeks, Justin has been been seen with Sean Kingston, rapper Lil’ Wayne, and singer Chris Brown, who has released a rap song with the Canadian teenager. Brown was in the headlines in 2009 after he allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna, resulting in her hospitalization and Brown facing charges of assault and making criminal threats.

Kingston, 21, has a juvenile burglary police record, according to the Sun. Lil Wayne has a record of gun charges.

“Selena told him to stop hanging with these bad people,” a friend reportedly told the Sun.

“They had a huge row,” reported the Mail, “and said it was good they were having time apart while she was on tour.” The tabloid also reported that “a pal of Selena said she saw Justin in tears during rows with her. She said: ‘It’s hard seeing a little 17-year-old crying and saying he loves her.'”
