Actress Jennifer Aniston has joined the fray in speaking out against Donald Trump’s vice-presidential pick, JD Vance. Footage of Vance recently resurfaced of Vance speaking in 2021 and criticizing Democrats as anti-family. “We are effectively run in this country, via the Democrats, via our corporate oligarchs, by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made, and so they wanna make the rest of the country miserable, too,” said Vance. He cited Kamala Harris and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as the types of women he was referring to, women who have no biological children of their own.

Aniston, who has no children of her own and has struggled with fertility issues, took umbrage at the comments. “I was throwing everything at it. I would’ve given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.’ You just don’t think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed,” she said in a previous interview about her battles with infertility. Addressing Vance’s comments, Anniston pointed to Vance’s 2-year-old daughter. “All I can say is… Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day. I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”

Vance addressed the statement, calling it “disgusting.” “That’s disgusting because my daughter is 2 years old. And second of all, if she had fertility problems, as I said in that speech, I would try everything I could to try to help her because I believe families and babies are a good thing,” he told Megyn Kelly on her show. Clips from the 2021 interview do not include when Vance specifically mentions he is speaking about women who choose not to have children, not those who struggle with infertility. “There are a whole host of people who don’t have children for a whole host of reasons, and they certainly are great people who can participate fully in the life of this country. So, this is not a criticism and was never a criticism of everybody without children. That is a lie of the left. It is a criticism of the increasingly anti-parents and anti-child attitude of the left,” Vance said in another interview to clarify his comments.

He also pointed to an interview where Kamala Harris encouraged others not to have children due to concerns about climate change. “If you look at what the American people are most concerned about, it’s not an out-of-context quip I made three years ago,” he said. “It’s the fact that Kamala Harris, the border czar, opened the American southern border. It’s the fact that the Democratic Party has become explicitly anti-family in some of their policies.”
