The disappearance of a California mother of four in 2024 is now being treated as a homicide, according to authorities.

Nikki Cheng Saelee-McCain was last heard from on May 18, 2024, and her family reported her missing from her home in Anderson, California, four days later. Since then, investigators have worked tirelessly to uncover the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

In a press release dated March 14, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office stated that detectives have served multiple search warrants, including at Nikki’s residence, and have conducted extensive interviews with family members, friends, and acquaintances, as well as individuals who have provided information about the case.

On March 14, investigators—along with agents from the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (HSI)—executed another search warrant at Saelee-McCain’s home.

Authorities say the evidence collected, combined with the fact that her family has had no contact with her since May 18, 2024, has led them to classify the case as a homicide.

The sheriff’s office has identified persons of interest but is withholding their names due to the ongoing investigation.

Officials are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver of a red truck who may have picked up a male adult between May 18 and May 25, 2024. The sighting reportedly occurred near Highway 36, in the western part of Tehama County, close to the R Wild Horse Ranch or the Beegum Gorge bridge.

At the time of Saelee-McCain’s disappearance, her husband, Tyler McCain, was facing felony domestic abuse charges. However, the case was dismissed in July 2024 due to her inability to testify, according to KRCR.

On March 11, McCain spoke publicly for the first time since his wife went missing.

“We miss you,” he said during a press conference, as reported by KRCR. “I don’t really know what to say.”

McCain also expressed regret for not speaking out sooner, admitting that he has struggled to cope.

“I apologize to everyone, especially my children and my wife’s family,” he stated. “I’m just here in support, so anything that I can do, I want to do that.”

Authorities are offering a $30,000 reward for any information that could help locate Saelee-McCain.

The FBI continues to work alongside local law enforcement in the investigation of her presumed death.

Heavenly Father, we lift up Nikki Saelee-McCain and her family, asking for truth, justice, and comfort in this difficult time. Bring strength to her loved ones and wisdom to those seeking answers. May Your peace and justice prevail. Amen.
