Fox News’s Jesse Watters took aim at Minnesota governor Tim Walz, accusing the former vice-presidential nominee of violating “rules for men.” “I have a new rule… men don’t wave simultaneously with two hands. We wave with one hand, not both hands at the same time,” Watters said during a recent episode of “The Five.” The panel was discussing recent comments from Walz during an interview on Gavin Newsom’s podcast where he accused the right of being “scared” of his masculinity.
During the episode, Walz said he felt Republicans focused on him so much because they were worried he’d make an impact amongst male voters. “It just baffled me how much time they spent trying to attack me, that I was not masculine enough in their vision,” he said. “They focused on it obsessively, which I think again is their obsession, their weirdness.” During the campaign, Republicans often mocked Walz for what they perceived as his flamboyant behavior and he was referred to as “Tampon Tim” in reference to a Minnesota law requiring tampons to be placed in boys’ bathrooms.
“I have rules for men. They’re just funny, they’re not that serious. Like, you don’t eat soup in public. You don’t cross your legs. And you don’t drink from a straw. And one of the reasons you don’t drink from a straw is the way your lips purse. It’s very effeminate,” Watters said during the segment mocking how Walz recently drank a shake with a straw. “His excuse was, ‘well I was drinking a milkshake.’ Again, you shouldn’t be drinking a milkshake. Milkshakes are for kids,” Watters insisted. He then lamented what he called the feminizing of men by the Democrat party. “Real men don’t talk about masculinity. Real men never say ‘misogyny.’ It’s just not something we ever say.”
Joe Rogan also took issue with Walz’s comments. “’They’re scared of him because he could fix a truck?” Rogan stated, referring to Walz’s claims of his mechanical prowess. “Anything masculine is ‘right-wing,’ anything – you cannot be masculine. Like, you cannot be interested in physical fitness, anything,” he said. He added, “You can’t like fast cars. You’re not even allowed to like Teslas anymore, which are the fastest cars.”
