Three weeks after thieves stole the copper coils from the Cathedral of Prayer’s air conditioner, an anonymous donor dropped an $80,000 winning lottery ticket into the offering plate.

While cashing in the ticket, Gloria Rodgers, treasurer for the Columbus, Ga., congregation, learned that the ticket was purchased at Jerry’s Food Mart — but beyond that, nobody knows anything about the purchaser.

The winnings will more than pay to fix the air conditioner, reported Fran Jeffries of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“It’s an excellent thing,” Rodgers said. “Everybody is just thrilled. We’re thankful.”
