SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Members of a polygamist sect have begun emotional reunions with their children, who were taken from the group’s ranch amid an abuse investigation nearly two months ago.
Nancy Dockstader’s chin quivered and her eyes filled with tears as she embraced her 9-year-old daughter, Amy. Dockstader said, “We’re so grateful.”
The reunion is one of many expected to take place across Texas on Monday and Tuesday. A Texas district judge ordered the immediate return of more than 400 children taken from the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints’ ranch in El Dorado.
Nancy and James Dockstader say they have four other children to pick up in Corpus Christi and Amarillo.
