A Full Moon may not be the astrological transit that brings the big changes you need (or those you didn’t ask for), but the natural extra dose of tension that a Full Moon can deliver is sometimes just the thing you need to have a breakthrough… or maybe have a breakdown.
This month’s Full Moon happens on Thursday/Friday the 13th/14th of June 2014 (depending on what time zone you’re in), and although the Sun-Moon opposition technically only happens for a few hours, it’s traditional to refer to “the three nights of the Full Moon,” and I personally find that’s how it works. So think of this forecast as a prediction for the general tone of things at the end of your work week and heading into the weekend. Fridays can actually be pretty dramatic on their own, given how many people’s social lives start then… and also given how many layoffs and terminations happen on that day.
Since this Full Moon happens in Sagittarius — which has a reputation for being fond of sports and games — and since this is a spiritual web site, let’s examine this month’s Full Moon through the lens of that classic song of faith… Bobby Bare’s 1976 classic entry into the obscure and entirely under-appreciated genre of “Christian Football Waltzes,” Dropkick Me Jesus. Any song that sounds equally at home in a church or a honkytonk bar during Happy Hour has to have a bit of Sagittarius going for it, doesn’t it?
Feel free to click on the video below and sing along while you’re reading. And if you’re at work while you’re reading this… well, I suppose you tell your boss it’s a Freedom Of Religion thing, or maybe wait until you’re home.
Come to think of it, you’d better wait until you’re home… if it’s a Full Moon, your boss might be edgy.
(chorus)
Dropkick me, Jesus, through the goalposts of life
End over end, neither left nor to right
Straight through the heart of them righteous uprights
Dropkick me, Jesus, through the goalposts of life
(You’ve probably got some kind of an idea where you want you life to be going, and a Full Moon can fuel that, or provide a temporary roadblock. Either way, don’t over-react during a Full Moon. Maintain a sense of balance.)
Make me, oh make me, Lord, more than I am
(But the Moon will be exactly quincunx Jupiter, so there’s a chance you’ll overestimate just how much more than yourself you can be.)
Make me a piece in your master game plan
(Jupiter rules philosophical world-views, and , and that Moon quincunx may have you relying too much on intuition or prayer when common sense would be a better approach.)
Free from the earthly tempestion below
(“Tempestion”? Is that even a word? Oh right — Mercury is retrograde. Please be cautious with your communications. Proofread carefully, and think carefully before you speak out.)
I’ve got the will, Lord, if you got the toe.
(He does, I’m sure. Now let’s see how well the Universe plays along with your ideas.)
(chorus)
Bring on the brothers who’ve gone on before
And all of the sisters who’ve knocked on your door
(Mercury retrograde trine Neptune retrograde will amplify that sense that you’re getting spiritual guidance, perhaps even from those who have passed on. That’s great, but again… common sense, people.)
All the departed dear loved ones of mine
Stick ’em up front in the offensive line
(Speaking of “offensive”: this Full Moon features an EXACT Mars-Pluto square. There’s plenty of potential for explosiveness in the air. You should also go back and read the forecast for the Mars segment of the Cardinal Grand Cross, because the Uranus and Pluto segments of that forecast will be back in full effect now specifically, and for the rest of the month in general. Whatever sources of tension you were facing in January are likely to be back in some form in the next month.)
(chorus)
A lowly bench warmer I’m contented to be
Until the time when you have need of me
(Jupiter is square the Moon’s Nodes, so Karma may come calling for you this week one way or another — the bonds you have to both people and ideas you hold close could very well be challenged.)
The flash on the big scoreboard shines from on high
The big Super Bowl way up in the sky
(And finally: good news! The Jupiter-Saturn trine is still in effect, and you can still get the constructive benefits that will bring you!)
(chorus)
