Internationally successful electronic dance music artist and producer Avicii has died at the age of 28. He was born September 8th 1989, time unknown, Stockholm Sweden. These are the bare facts.
Feeling my way through the darkness
Guided by a beating heart
I can’t tell where the journey will end
But I know where to start
They tell me I’m too young to understand
They say I’m caught up in a dream
Well life will pass me by if I don’t open up my eyes
Well that’s fine by me
We don’t know the cause of death yet, but we do know that in past he had suffered from pancreatitis. The pancreas and astrology is ruled by the moon, and without a time of birth we can’t be absolutely sure, but his natal Moon was square his Mars, which would tend to give a tendency towards inflammation. There were also bouts of depression, as one might expect from someone with a Saturn-Neptune conjunction. Again, these are just the facts.
I tried carrying the weight of the world
But I only have two hands
Hope I get the chance to travel the world
But I don’t have any plans
Wish that I could stay forever this young
Not afraid to close my eyes
Life’s a game made for everyone
And love is a prize
Pancreatitis is often made much worse by alcoholism. With a Saturn-Neptune conjunction in his chart, it’s fairly clear to see that even though Avicii didn’t have to be an alcoholic, there would likely be some serious consequences from it if he was. He had previously been hospitalized twice because of his heavy drinking. He was having his Saturn Return at the time of his death, which means that transiting Saturn was also conjunct his natal Neptune. At his actual time of death, Avicii was having some surprisingly good transits. Transiting Venus , Mars, and Pluto were all trine his natal Mars. This should in theory have lifted his mood considerably.
So: maybe he was just alone and sad and decided to cheer himself up with a few more drinks.
So wake me up when it’s all over
When I’m wiser and I’m older
All this time I was finding myself, and I
Didn’t know I was lost…
