In astrology, any given planet rules lots of different things. Mars, for example, rules heating things and cutting things and fevers and the sex drive. A large part of the job Mars does for you is provide you with your temper, and how you attack a problem (or an enemy).
Many things affect how Mars attacks, and perhaps most important factor is what Sign Mars is in your birth chart.
I’ve written this blog entry in the form of a list weapons, both classic and modern, that best describe how Mars in each Sign approaches the things that challenge it, and it also describes how dangerous, or how effective or ineffective, you are when you wield your Mars sign in anger. If anyone here takes offense the following, please: put the gun down. It’s just a blog. Jeez.
Aries: Flame Thrower
Pros: Although capable of a number of practical uses, the flamethrower carries the added benefit of scaring the ever-living crap out of anyone you face with it. it’s also incredibly useful if you have some jobs that need to be done in a hurry, like clearing a sidewalk of snow or finding off a dog attack.
Cons: There is no such thing as “pinpoint accuracy” when it comes to using a flamethrower. You’ll probably hit your target, but you’ll probably hit a lot of other things too. Also carrying around that fuel tank all of the time is kind of a burden. Also, may not last long under repeated use.
Taurus: Cluster Bomb
Pros: A bomb designed to open up in mid-air and release a whole bunch of smaller bombs. Normally held in reserve until major military action is required. It’s a great way to cover a lot of enemy territory in just one shot. Not at all subtle, but can save you a lot of lives (those on your side, anyway) as opposed to hand-to-hand fighting on the street.
Cons: The cluster bomb is notorious for releasing many smaller explosives that don’t always go off right away. Those smaller explosives can be lethal when you are moving in to claim the territory you have conquered, or can kill non-combatants even years after the war is over. That’s why most civilized countries have agreed by treaty to not use them anymore.
Gemini: CornerShot
Pros:Not a weapon in and of itself, but a weapon accessory developed in the early 2000s. Through a combination of a digital camera and a flashlight the CornerShot gives a gun the ability to fire around corners. Just when your enemy thinks he’s managed to run away from you, boom!
Cons: First of all, the corner shot is not a weapon… It attaches to a weapon that does most of the actual work. It attaches to a gun fairly quickly but it’s pretty awkward for using a straight-up gunfight. it’s best use as part of a coordinated attack rather than as a one-on-one weapon.
Cancer: Land Mines
Pros: The enemy knows he’s approaching your territory. He knows to expect resistance. But landmines are essentially invisible and your attacker has no idea what he’s getting into, until suddenly his legs get blown off. Surprise!
Cons: Almost invariably whenever any military leave the conflict, some land mines get left behind. Those things can go off and kill or maim innocent people more or less at random for decades after the actual war is over. Now banned by most civilized countries for that reason.
Leo: 357 Magnum
Pros: Made famous by Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry movies, the 357 Magnum is a prestige weapon with incredible stopping power. Possibly the most dramatic of all handguns, with literally a killer reputation.
Cons: Unless you’ve decided to go hunting bears with a handgun, this “hand cannon” is probably far more firepower than you need. not lightweight, not particularly quick to draw, and a bit of a tendency to jam when it’s needed.
Virgo: Monk’s Spade
Pros: Probably the most useful and practical of all the weapons on this list. A long pole weapon with a flat, spade like blade on one end and a crescent-shaped blade on the other. Can be used for gardening, warding off predators, and decapitating your opponent with a single swing. Won’t go off accidentally or misfire.
Cons: Not exactly easy to conceal, and unless you are a trained Shaolin monk, there’s a good chance that your enemy will get to you before you strike, or that you will accidentally hurt yourself with it.
NEXT TIME: Things get much saner and safer as Mars travels through the calm and considered second half of the Zodiac. Ha ha, yeah, right…
