At approximately 4 PM Eastern time Wednesday, social media service Twitter was the subject of an unprecedented hack, and the unknown attackers got away with an undetermined (but apparently large) amount of money via Bitcoin. The Verge is calling it “the most catastrophic security breach in company history.”

A number of very famous and heavily followed Twitter accounts temporarily displayed a message saying something to the effect of “for the next 30 minutes will be doubled!” This scam has appeared on Twitter and elsewhere before, but never in so many famous accounts all at once. We are talking about former president Obama, Joe Biden, Apple, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Kim and Kanye, and Mike Bloomberg among others.
The first publicly visible tweet on Twitter was made March 21st 2006, at 9:50 PM from San Francisco California. Using this as the birth chart for Twitter, there are some interesting features that jump out. That chart’s Eighth House, which rules “other people’s money,” is Gemini, ruled by Mercury. Twitter’s Midheaven (“career purpose”) is ruled by the Sun, which for Twitter is at one degree Aries.
The June 21st Solar Eclipse at 0 degrees Cancer was closely square Twitter’s natal Sun. This set up the basic circumstances for this hack. But at the time the actual hack happened? Transiting Venus in Gemini was in Twitter’s 8th house, making a close square to Twitter’s natal Mercury.
in the grand scheme of things, this sounds like a pretty lightweight transit. But consider that Twitter’s secondary progressed Sun and Moon are now very closely square each other in Aries and Cancer respectively, and that transiting Mars in Aries is now within conjunction range of that secondary progressed Sun and within range to square the secondary progressed Moon? This could prove to be the beginning of new problems for Twitter. Another possible sign of a serious reckoning in Twitter’s near future: transiting South Node is approaching the conjunction to natal Pluto.
Twitter gets a lot of traffic because of its most famous users. And it was many of those most famous users who got hacked. All at once. Mysteriously. By unknown attackers.
Now, feel free to take a moment to ponder how many politicians use Twitter, and what the consequences of having one of those accounts being hacked could have. Or imagine the market effects if Jeff Bezos “announced” that Amazon was on the verge of bankruptcy. Or…
