In a sense, you can’t tell with one hundred percent accuracy the effect of a transit until you factor in how the person experiencing it will react to it… or (just as importantly) Case in point: The Great Conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn this month.

Back in 2019 when we were all starting to pay attention to the Saturn Pluto conjunction, there were some astrologers out there who were treating it like it was going to be the end of the world. I pointed out that yes, it would suck… but we’d survive. And if we were smart, we’d learn something from it.

(Wondering what the next few months hold in store for you? Write me with your date, time, and place of birth — and I’ll send you a free sneak preview!)

We are now looking forward to the Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn on December 21st. Some astrologers are declaring this to be the beginning of some sort of Golden Age, like the reward we get for successfully eating the Brussels sprouts of 2020. But I’m here to remind you all that the Jupiter Saturn conjunction won’t be some kind of glorious cure-all… although I believe it could be the start of some very good things.

The Great Conjunction happens roughly every 19 and 1/2 years. This one will be particularly noteworthy because Jupiter and Saturn will appear to be unusually close to each other in the sky, forming what some people are calling a “double planet.” Some are going as far as comparing it to the Star of Bethlehem.

I don’t want to overreact, so I’m not going to speak of it in those terms. The feeling I’m getting off of this conjunction, sometimes, is more like the feeling I get when I contemplate the miracle and wonder that is the KFC-scented fire log.

***

The KFC fire log has been around for a couple of years now, but I only learned of it a couple of days ago. Anything exactly what it sounds like from the description: a pre-processed log for your fireplace or fire pit that smells like the Colonel’s famous 11 herbs and spices recipe for fried chicken. Amazing, isn’t it?

Most of you are probably wondering at this point what the heck this has to do with Jupiter and Saturn being conjunct. Allow me to explain. Aquarius has an association with artifice. This doesn’t make it phony at all — on the contrary, artifice can serve as a heightened form of reality, or throw one aspect of reality into sharp focus.

And what could be more Aquarian than a fried-chicken-scented log of compressed wood fiber, meant to be burned in a fireplace or fire pit that (odds are good) you don’t really need?

So, there you have it. The Jupiter-Saturn conjunction — despite being the closest in nearly 400 years, despite being the beginning of a 300 year cycle promising new hope and new ways of thinking and potentially a better world for all of us — is just a novelty act.

…Or, you know, it could be the dawn of a new period of human consciousness, where we all begin to make a better, more conscious effort to be better, more conscious people. It’s like I said earlier: part of the effects of a transit is up to how the person experiencing it will react to it.

I know which way I want to go with it Maybe you should put some thought into that too.

NEXT TIME: “But what’s in it for ME?” many of you are shouting. Drop by next time and I’ll answer that.
