This is just for fun on the compatibility with Johnny Depp… I feel silly for asking, since I am suppose to be an adult.
Dear BT:
No worries! First of all, to quote one of my heroes: “There’s no point in being grown up if you can’t act a little childish sometimes.” And believe it or not, this gives me the opportunity to write about something I’ve been meaning to discuss here for a while: how to learn about astrological compatibility. And don’t worry, BT, I’m keeping your name and birth details out of it. However, we know that Johnny Depp was born June 9, 1963, at 8:44 AM in Owensboro, Kentucky.
(No matter what transits are happening, how they play out in your life depends on your individual birth chart. Write me with your date, time, and place of birth — and I’ll send you a copy and a free sneak preview!)
We live in a world where, if we want to, we can immerse ourselves in images of nearly impossibly good looking people all day long. If “attraction” was only about “attractiveness,” then we’d live entirely in a world of stalkers and celebrities. Fortunately for all involved, it rarely works out that way. But looking at the compatibility between you and a celebrity who you really like (or a celebrity others really like, but don’t work for you personally) can be pretty educational.
Traditionally, when an astrologer looks at compatibility, we tend to group aspects between charts into “good” and “bad.” Squares and oppositions are bad, trines and sextiles are good. As time goes on though, the less sure I am of this. I’m beginning to think that it might be more useful to look at compatibility aspects as either being “more compelling” or “less compelling”… or maybe “easier” and “more challenging.”
Furthermore, I feel that the conjunction is the most compelling of all aspects between two planets in peoples birth charts. Which brings me to the question of you and your “celebrity soulmate,” Johnny Depp.
Here’s the conjunctions you and Johnny have (not even counting stuff like Chiron or Lilith!):
-His Sun on your Ascendant, Mars, and South Node
-Your Sun conjunct his Jupiter
-Your Moon conjunct his North Node
-Your Venus conjunct his Saturn
Rather than delineate what each one of these aspects means individually, let me give you a picture of what I think the sum total of it means. I’m certain that if the two of you met at a dinner party you’d probably really lock onto each other (unless one or both of you were seriously distracted). If you were stuck in a broken elevator for a bit together, it might be a relatively good experience for both of you.
But, does that mean you’re somehow soul mates, or whatever? It doesn’t guarantee anything. Consider what I call the Ham Sandwich Effect when it comes to applying astrology to human relationships.
That, and… as I’ve asked here before… is “compatibility” always such a good thing?
