Have you been wondering whether or not tomorrow’s premiere episode of the final season of Game Of Thrones on HBO is going to be a success or not? No, you probably haven’t. If you don’t watch Game of Thrones you’re probably sick of hearing about it from your friends, family, and co-workers. And if you do watch it like I do, then you know you’re going to be glued to it regardless of what anyone says.
Even so, the transits for the first airing of the season 8 premiere is remarkable.
But first, a note about the chart that I’m presenting here. The show premieres at 9 PM on HBO, and I’ve done a little digging around to determine that 9 PM Eastern is the first showing. Yes, I know that not everyone in the world lives in New York City, but that’s where I’ve cast the chart for. Relocating the chart to another place in the Eastern time zone won’t alter the Midheaven or the Ascendant as much as you might think, since time zones run north and south. Remember that next time you’re looking into the subject of “relocation astrology”: moving a chart North or South doesn’t alter the angles as much as moving it East or West does.
Now having said that… holy cow, what a chart!
At showtime, the Moon will be in Leo right on the Midheaven. It’s a waxing Moon and it is in a close trine to both Jupiter in Sagittarius (which is a strong placement) and to the Sun in Aries which is excellent, because the Sun is both the ruler of the Midheaven and in the Sign of its exaltation). And since Jupiter in Sagittarius is both in the Second House (money) of the premiere chart and is also the ruler of the Second House, you know HBO is going to make a few bucks off of this somehow.
But, you may be wondering, isn’t this true for everything premiering this Sunday at 9 PM on the East Coast? How can that be the case when everyone and their dog is going to be watching Game of Thrones?
Two things about that: first of all, how we measure TV ratings has changed In the last couple of decades. Lots of people watch one thing on live TV and record something that’s on at the same time on another channel — and both count as “viewings.” The birth chart for any program premiering opposite Game of Thrones will be pretty much the same… I just don’t know if there’s anyone out there crazy enough to be premiering any new series up against this big a cultural event.
Second, although it had a hard time working out an exact birth chart for HBO, we have the birth chart of series creator George R. R. Martin. The Fire Sign Grand Trine in the premiere chart is closely aspecting his Moon at 27 degrees Aries and his Jupiter at 21 degrees Sagittarius. Transiting Uranus is sextile George’s natal Uranus, which is the ruler of his Midheaven. It’s also square his Midheaven however… so it will be no surprise whatsoever, with or without the astrology, that people are going to be yelling at George more than ever to hurry up and finish writing those books.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to make some popcorn in advance. but if you like your astrology mixed with a little Game of Thrones, may I suggest the following:
Tyrion Lannister’s Game Of Squares
Sansa Stark, Astrology, And Surviving Bad Times
Transits That Kill You (But Then You Get Better) Part One: Emilia Clarke
