Like something out of a Disney movie, here is a video of a wild deer that stepped into the gap when a male Canadian goose was killed — leaving its mate alone, a mama goose tending their nest full of unhatched goslings. Ordinarily, it is the role of the gander — the father goose — to protect the family.

Wildlife experts are baffled. What bond exists between this deer and the widowed goose and her little orphans?

Maybe it has something to do with Matthew 6:26 — “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
