I watched a 20-minute video today called The Story of Stuff about American consumption habits and how they affect our lives and the world. It’s fast paced, designed to be amusing and easy to digest, and packs a lot of content into a relatively short period of time. Annie Leonard drops a lot of statistics, and there is a fact sheet on the website where she cites her sources.
I learned about The Story of Stuff from the summer newsletter for the School of Sanskrit Studies in New York. I took a workshop with the school’s director, Manorama, when she visited Portland for the first time a few months ago. It was amazing. If I lived in New York I’d be studying with her regularly. By the way, her cd Sarva-Bhuteshu ‘In All Beings’ is addictive.
